Xi'an Jinpeng seed Co., Ltd. is a private professional tomato seed industry company integrating tomato breeding, seed production and new variety promotion.It was founded in October 2001 by Li Xiaodong, the developer of Jinpeng No. 1 tomato variety, and Wang Jianren, the expert of tomato seed production.
Shaanxi Jinpeng Seed Industry Co., Ltd. is registered in Yangling Modern Agriculture Demonstration Zone in March 2011. Xi'an Jinpeng seed Co., Ltd. had became a sole subsidiary of Shaanxi Jinpeng Seed Industry Co., Ltd in June 2021. The major business department is located in Fengcheng 1st Road, Xi'an Economic and Technological Development Zone; The R&D center and seed processing center are located in Yangling modern agriculture demonstration park. Over the past two decades, the company has always adhered to taking breeding as the core, focusing on improving service quality, aiming at creating value for vegetable farmers, taking revitalizing the national seed industry as its own responsibility, refusing impetuosity and speculation, doing solid work and making steady progress. The company is a member of Asia Pacific Seed Association (APSA) and China Seed Association, a standing director unit of tomato branch of China horticultural society and Shaanxi horticultural society, and a vice chairman unit of Shaanxi vegetable science and technology innovation alliance.
The company attaches great importance to breeding innovation and regards breeding as the company's top development strategy. There are 13 technicians in the breeding team, combining the old, middle aged and young, and combining conventional breeding, molecular breeding and tomato pathology. The R & D center covers an area of 98 mu, with 50 breeding facilities and 230 ㎡ laboratories.Breeding funds are millions of yuan a year. After nearly two decades of unremitting efforts, three generations of tomato varieties have been bred and popularized, and each generation of varieties has a great role in promoting tomato production in China.
The first generation variety Jinpeng No. 1 series has created a new era of long storage and transportation shelf life of pink tomatoes in China. It is the main variety of pink tomatoes in China's protected areas for more than ten consecutive years after 2000. It has promoted more than 8 million mu and increased income by more than 8 billion yuan. The second generation variety Jinpeng M6 series is the first batch of root knot nematode resistant pink tomato varieties popularized and applied in China. It is widely planted in China and exported to developed countries such as the European Union. The third generation 'Jinpeng 8, 9, 10, 11, Qiusheng' and other yellowing leaf curl virus (TY) resistant varieties. In the autumn of 2010, it was successively applied in production. Jinpeng No. 8 and Qiusheng have become one of the leading varieties in production. With more than ten years of high-intensity breeding investment, the company has entered a new stage of continuous innovation and sustainable development, and has become one of the most competitive leading enterprises in China's tomato seed industry. The breeding achievements of our company have won one second prize of national scientific and technological progress award, four first and second prizes of provincial and ministerial scientific and technological progress awards, two first and second prizes of municipal scientific and technological progress awards and many other honors.
